Jennifer Alderman

Running for: Faculty Grievance Committee, Fixed-Term Faculty
  • Clinical Assistant Professor
  • School of Nursing
  • Appointed: 2010
  • PhD, University of North Carolina, Greensboro, 2019
UNC Service

I have been a faculty member in the School of Nursing for 11 years. During this time, I have served faithfully in the School of Nursing in various leadership roles across undergraduate and graduate programs, including Lead Faculty and curriculum work at both levels. I have served robustly as a mentor/chair for numerous student projects/committees/advisement at both the undergraduate and graduate levels as well. On a broader scope, I have collaborated with the Office of Interprofessional Education and Practice by participating in the planning and implementation of interprofessional events across collaborating departments.

Candidate Statement

I am running for a position on the Faculty Grievance Committee because I would like to increase my understanding of the perspectives of faculty across the university. Having been a faculty member for 11 years, I have a solid understanding of the concerns expressed by both graduate and undergraduate faculty in the School of Nursing. I would like to better understand the process for bringing grievances forward and what realistic solutions/options exist for faculty. Advocacy is inherent in the nursing profession and I would like to apply my advocacy skills on a broader university level in an effort to support my faculty colleagues in both my home department and other departments university-wide.
