Final 2006-07 Faculty Council and General Faculty meeting, Friday, April 27th
The Faculty Council and General Faculty will meet April 27, 2007 from 3:00 – 5: 00 p.m. in the Hitchcock Multipurpose Room of the Sonja Haynes Stone Center. Among other items, the meeting will consider a resolution proposing adoption of the “Achievement Index” as a measure of student academic performance. Faculty election results will also be announced.

All faculty invited to end-of-semester reception on May 3 in Campus Y’s new Faculty Commons
The Campus Y has recently reopened after an extensive renovations and will be officially dedicated next October 11, the eve of University Day. A new feature of the building is the bright and beautiful Anne Queen Faculty Commons area, located in the former “chapel” space on the side of the building facing Wilson Library and the Polk Place quad.
The Office of Faculty Governance (which will manage the space, in collaboration with the Campus Y) invites all faculty to take a break from exams to preview the Faculty Commons on the afternoon of Thursday, May 3, 2007. Drop by between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. to visit with us there. We’ll treat you to a snack, a cup of coffee or tea, and a peek at the new (and now partly furnished) space!

Second round of community meetings about Carolina North to take place April 26th
Local residents, faculty, staff and students are invited to participate in a second round of community meetings about Carolina North on April 26. The meetings will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the William and Ida Friday Continuing Education Center off N.C. 54. The presentation will be repeated at 5:30 p.m. in the same location. Parking will be available at the Friday Center.
University representatives will present revised conceptual drawings with possible approaches to issues including open space, pedestrian and vehicular circulation, utilities, and land use on the UNC-owned property. Comments from the community in March influenced the ideas that will be shown this month.
