The Faculty Council met on February 9, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Kerr 1001. A summary of actions follows:

  • The Faculty Council unanimously passed Resolution 2018-1. On University-Approved Absences. The resolution supports the revisions made to the Academic Regulation concerning University Approved Absences, as found in the Academic Catalog. Revisions included clear delineation of University-Approved Absences (UAA); creating a central office for handling UAA; clear references, resources, and policies for legal and protected rights in one place; a clear process for how a UAA is approved and communicated; and an appeal process.
  • The Faculty Council and General Faculty also approved Resolution 2018-2. On Amending the Faculty Code of University Government to Allow for Technical Corrections on a first reading, which allows the Committee on University Government to correct the language of this Code to update the names of units and the titles of officers to reflect changes made by the University. The resolution will appear on the March Council agenda for a final reading.
