Carolina’s mid-year commencement ceremony will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the Dean E. Smith Center. Faculty members are strongly encouraged to join the processional with or without regalia.
Following Carolina’s tradition of highlighting outstanding faculty, Chancellor Carol Folt, in consultation with the Commencement Speaker Selection Committee, invited Dr. Satish Gopal to be this year’s featured speaker. He is an innovative researcher working at the forefront of cancer treatment in Malawi, Africa. Dr. Gopal, joined the UNC-CH faculty in 2012. He is currently an associate professor holding a joint appointment in the Divisions of Hematology-Oncology and Infectious Diseases.
If you wish to participate, please assemble at 1:30 p.m. in the Press Room of the Smith Center. Use Entry D and take the elevator down to the court level.
Faculty parking will be in the top tier of the Manning Lot. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Stacey Warner at staceywarner@unc.edu so your name can be added to the parking list.
