Faculty Council will hold its December meeting on Friday, December 13th, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm in the Pleasants Room of Wilson Library.  The agenda is now available here, and all members of the faculty are welcome to attend.

Highlights of this month’s meeting include remarks from Dr. Lowry Caudill, Chair of the UNC-Chapel Hill Board of Trustees, as well as continued discussion of the implementation of the UNC system strategic plan.  The strategic plan discussion will focus on the in-process project to develop assessment criteria to measure student learning across the general education curriculum at UNC system constituent universities.  Additionally, the Council will host a panel discussion on emerging issues related to open access and scholarly publishing.  Finally, Council will consider a resolution encouraging reconsideration of the state university system policy that prevents undocumented students that are domiciled in North Carolina from qualifying for in-state tuition.

As usual, the Council will also hear remarks from Chancellor Carol Folt, Provost Dean, and Chair of the Faculty Jan Boxill.
