UNC Service

I have represented Gillings School of Global Public Health nontenured faculty on the Faculty Council since 2019. Candidate Statement

I have been on UNC faculty since 2015 and have represented Gillings nontenured faculty on the Faculty Council since 2019. My work focuses on genetic and environmental factors that contribute to health disparities of chronic diseases. I have extensive experience collaborating on diverse, international, interdisciplinary teams to address issues and solve problems. I helped launch the school-wide MPH@UNC program and now serve as Faculty Mentor for Applied Epidemiology students. My outreach efforts include teaching genomics to NC high school students, connecting with students nationally to discuss science careers, and serving as a STEM pen pal to middle school students. My commitment to health equity, collaboration, education, and outreach has provided valuable perspective to Faculty Council, which I would hope to continue if re-elected.
