Candidate Statement

Drawing on my previous service on the Council and at UNC, I would like to contribute to the Council's institutional memory, especially in the areas of faculty governance, administrative accountability and transparency, athletics integrity, and faculty control of curriculum. I believe strongly in the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all parts of the University, and will vigorously support efforts to build on and expand our efforts in these areas. I recognize that the University now faces a severe crisis of budget and resources that stems from declining political support, and I would like the Faculty Council to help alleviate the crisis by a strong defense to our leaders and citizens of adequate public support for excellence in teaching, research, and service.
