I am currently a member of the Open Access Review Task Force and this past year, I served as a member of the Data Science @ Carolina Subcommittee, “Student Services and Staff Support.” For the past three years, I have been the Libraries liaison to the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) CURE Faculty Learning Communities.

Candidate Statement

I am running to represent the University Libraries on the Faculty Council to be able to participate and demonstrate the value the Libraries bring to campus. As the Interim Head of the Kenan Science Library and a science librarian, I work with both faculty and students across the sciences to advocate, promote and instruct them on information and data science literacies. As data science becomes an integral part of the undergraduate curriculum, I believe the Libraries will be a valuable partner in this effort. I am an established and enthusiastic science librarian, instructor, author, library associations participant, volunteer for the grant funded Carolina ADMIRES program, volunteer for the grant funded Girls Talk Math summer program, and a researcher in the field of retention of women in the STEM fields.
