Candidate Statement
I was asked to run for this position and out of a sense of duty to the institution I agreed. I have had a reasonable amount of interaction with the SOM administration over the years, at least from the point of view of a basic researcher interested in translational science. I have gotten to know 4 of the 5 deans serving since I came to UNC, and I have had the opportunity to work closely with the research deans. If I came to actually serve on this committee I would try to provide input on behalf of the research community as to their needs and challenges.
