Having been a member of the UNC faculty for 47 years I have many things I could list for previous and current service to the University. To be succinct, notable service includes: EXSS Director of Graduate Studies/Admissions, Interim Department Chair, Director of IM-REC Sports (Campus Recreation), Department AAO/EEO Officer, Biomedical IRB, Administrative Board of the Graduate School, Fellowship Committee of the Graduate School, University insurance Committee, Faculty Council, EXSS Chair of Human Subjects in Research Committee, University Teaching Awards Committee-Chair for Board of Governors Award, Faculty Athletic Committee (current member)

Candidate Statement

My goal is to continue to help the athletic program and university meet multiple challenges in our current unusual times. I have significant knowledge and understanding of intercollegiate athletics in general and UNC specifically. Faculty Athletic Representative to the NAIA at another university early in my career, I have been closely associated with UNC athletics for over 50 years - having been a student at UNC for three degrees. My area, Exercise & Sport Science, has foci on athletic performance, injury treatment and rehabilitation, and administration of intercollegiate athletic programs. I have taught students in all three areas, including athletes, for over four decades and have been involved in multiple research projects in those areas. My grandson, a Carolina graduate-May 2019, was a member of the UNC football team for four years.
