Candidate Statement

As an education researcher, I have dedicated my career to advancing our scientific understanding of how people learn. I believe that curriculum and pedagogy will serve students most effectively if it is grounded in the best science of teaching and learning. I am the editor of three editions of _The Cambridge Handbook of the Learning Sciences_, an influential collection of chapters by leading researchers in this field. In the School of Education, I have served in several leadership roles with responsibility over programs and curriculum. In the College of Arts and Sciences, I have served on the Administrative Boards and on the General Education Oversight Committee and I continue in those roles. In 2021-2022, I am serving on the EPC as a substitute for an elected member who is on sabbatical leave.
