UNC Service
Service work has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my job during my 16 years at UNC. In 2008, I was named the head of the Visual Communication Sequence in the Hussman School. In 2014, I moved into the role of Academic Director of our Master of Arts in Digital Communication online program. I became the Director of Journalism for the Hussman School in 2018 and continue to work in that role today.
Candidate Statement
Serving on the Faculty Grievance Committee is a way to do my part to tangibly contribute to our university’s success. My prior professional career as a newspaper journalist as well as my service and leadership roles in the Hussman School have prepared me to serve on a committee that is dedicated to understanding factual circumstances in a fair and balanced way. My involvement with the CFE Leadership Program during the 2019-20 academic year, and my current training with the CFE’s Peer Coaching group, have provided insight into the best ways to resolve issues and disputes that arise in academic situations. I welcome the opportunity to serve the university in this capacity.
