UNC Service
I have served in leadership roles in my department, including several stints as Director of Graduate Studies and one semester as Interim Chair. In addition, I have served on College task forces and committees, such as the Global Guarantee Task Force and the implementation planning committee for the NEH Next Generation Humanities PhD. I have chaired a task force on faculty mentoring in my department, and led or served on numerous personnel committees. I am now completing my term on the Arts and Sciences Advisory Committee, as described in my candidate statement.
Candidate Statement
Of all the forms of service I have engaged in, my service as the Fine Arts representative on the ASAC is the most demanding and the most rewarding. Having served on this committee for one term, I have been privileged to work with my colleagues to provide advice to the Dean on appointments and promotions. In addition to service on the ASAC, I bring to this committee my experience as a mentor to numerous colleagues, my years on the faculty at three Research 1 institutions, and my engagement in T&P reviews at other universities. In addition to wishing to continue to contribute to the faculty review process, I would value the opportunity to assess the work of the ASAC, in order to provide broader advice to the Dean’s Office concerning the presentation of dossiers, to ensure the strongest possible presentation of faculty accomplishments.
