UNC Service

I serve UNC’s patients as a Hospitalist in Internal Medicine. I also serve in several formal teaching and advising roles across the medical education continuum. I am a tutor and preceptor for medical students in both the Foundation and Application phases. I am a faculty advisor and mentor for medical students and residents with a particular commitment to global health. For the past four years I have served as an Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency Program. I am an active participant in and an advocate for DEI efforts in our residency community as well as our recruitment and selection committees.

Candidate Statement

I was honored to be nominated to run for this position. My husband and I came to UNC seven years ago, and plan to be lifelong Tarheels. When prospective faculty, residents, and students ask me about UNC, I always cite first and foremost the true sense of community, oriented around a common mission of service and excellence for the people and state of North Carolina. I believe in the importance of governance to protect and promote missions like ours, and value participation in governance as a form of service to community. Additionally, as a Latinx woman, I would value the opportunity to learn more about and potentially contribute to the evolution of University positions and policies, particularly with respect to equity for women, racial reconciliation, and DEI efforts. Thank you for your consideration.
