Candidate Statement

This position will enhance what I have worked toward throughout my UNC service - to engage more faculty in the processes and decisions that affect faculty, students, staff, alumni, and the mission of the University. Greater faculty involvement yields more understanding of the complexity of decisions and more diverse faculty expertise for making decisions. At this critical point, faculty should lead efforts building on individual strengths within our community and move toward building a stronger community; a community in which we lean on each other and trust each other while working on common goals. During my years as Faculty Athletics Committee Chair, we brought together groups from around the campus to develop solutions and processes not just to solve the immediate issues but to avoid future problems and to promote proactive planning.
