UNC Service
While once started and headed a Division of my department and led for 8 years a campus-wide Interdisciplinary Obesity Center and held an array of training grants from NIH over 30 years that funded people across the SPH, much of my service and work has been national and global. I have been actively involved with International agencies, particularly the World Bank in helping to initiate a number of changes & an obesity strategy and work constantly with governments throughout the world to create a wide array of policies related to healthy eating and the reduction of obesity and major noncommunicable diseases and received dozens of global awards
Candidate Statement
I believe this committee needs to take a more activist role to allow for faculty input during financial crises such as UNC faces now. Being both an economist and public health professional gives me perspective on financial issues. Also my 40 plus years at UNC shows my dedication to the institute.
