UNC Service

I am currently a member of the University Libraries Awards Committee and I serve as Chair of the Committee on Appointments and Promotions at the Health Sciences Library, as well as a member for the past four years. Additionally, I serve on the UNC Hospital’s Patient Education Committee, the Healthwise Committee, and the Lineberger Patient Advocates for Research Council (PARC).

Candidate Statement

I am interested in running in the election and serving on the Faculty Council to ensure that the interests of my colleagues in all University Libraries on campus are represented. In my role at the Health Sciences Library, I work with faculty, staff, and students to increase awareness of health literacy and its impact on the citizens of North Carolina, and the health care system. Throughout my career, I have focused on empowering and enabling people to make informed health decisions, and to actively participate as a member of their health care team. To me, participation is action, and I would like to be part of the action and decision-making process here at UNC. My strengths and contributions to Faculty Council would be my ability to work with diverse groups within the UNC community to the benefit of all.
