UNC Service

Since becoming a faculty member in the UNC School of Medicine, I have been a very active member of the faculty. In addition to performing my duties as a clinician, I have engaged in professional service through the education, advising, and mentorship of learners at multiple levels; this includes my roles of being a Patient Centered Care (PCC) Tutor for several cohorts in the Foundation Phase of medical school, a Clinical Academic Resources Director (CARD), who helps medical students with navigating the clinical phases of their education, a member of the SOM DEI Council, and the first Diversity Liaison for the Department of Anesthesiology.

Candidate Statement

Equity in representation and a lens for inclusion is important for any selection committee, and I conduct myself accordingly. I have participated on many selection committees for my department--residency, fellowship, and faculty recruitment, as well as a recent selection committee for several departmental leadership positions. I have also served as a review group leader for the UNC SOM Admissions Committee, a member of a departmental chairperson selection committee, and a member of a chairperson's 5 year review. My experience on these committees has provided me with a balanced approach to the evaluation of candidates. Further, my experience as an anesthesiologist and educator allows me to interface with individuals from multiple departments across our institution. Combined, the experiences make me an ideal candidate for this position.
