UNC Service

A native North Carolinian, I received my MD from UNC School of Medicine, completed my residency in the UNC Dept. of Anesthesiology and a fellowship in its Division of Pain Management. Although I was previously employed in the private sector, it was my love for education which brought me back to UNC in 2011. Since then, I have been very involved. In my department, I have most notably served as the Division Chief for General Anesthesiology, and I am an active member of multiple committees. In the School of Medicine, I also serve on several committees, including: Admissions, Learning Environment, and Appointments, Promotions, and Tenure.

Candidate Statement

At UNC, I work with students, residents, and faculty, the perspective of whom I would bring to the Faculty Council. Several of my activities reinforce initiatives in UNC's new strategic plan and provide skills to serve my alma mater: my work as a Clinical Academic Resources Director provides medical students in the clinical phases with resources that promote success in medical school; Serving on the Faculty Diversity Council and as a departmental Diversity Liaison directly supports diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts at the institution; My role as a career goals advisor has helped to bolster the careers of multiple aspiring young physicians. Lastly, helping to oversee daily OR operations as an Anesthesia Coordinator has strengthened my interpersonal and inter-professional acumen, as well as my knowledge of systems-based practice.
