I served at the law school as Associate Dean for Faculty Development from 2008 to 2012. I was the Director of the Center for Faculty Excellence from 2012 to 2016. I served on the university APT committee for six years and as its chair for one. I've served on the Faculty Executive Committee since 2017. I've been a member of the Board of Governors of the University of North Carolina Press since 2008 and its Chair since 2015.

Candidate Statement

I believe I have been an effective member of the Faculty Executive Committee for the past three years, pressing for the committee to take an active role in advocating for faculty interests and speaking out about matters of faculty concern. The faculty of the university and its administration have distinct roles, usually complementary to each other but occasionally not, and I believe it important for the Faculty Executive Committee to speak the faculty's values in both kinds of situations. I was pleased to be able to inform and contribute to the committee's deliberations about the Silent Sam matter, sometimes in ways that made use of my legal training. I would appreciate the opportunity to continue to serve the faculty of the university in this way.
