UNC Service

I have been engaged in service at the departmental, School, and University levels since joining the UNC faculty. In my department, I have served on the admissions committee, leadership team, and as director of our master’s program, and I have served on the School-wide MPH Steering Committee, and Equity Best Practices committee. At the University level, I am in my first year of my third stint as an elected Faculty Council member, and I served on the FC’s Agenda Committee. In addition, I have served on the search committee for the Senior Prevention Services Officer, and currently serve on the Gender-Based Violence Prevention Advisory Group.

Candidate Statement

I believe that engaged, responsive scholarship includes dynamic educational programming and policies, and that faculty play a critical role in ensuring their appropriateness and integrity. I have extensive experience in developing, maintaining, revising and evaluating curricula in a university setting. I served as the director of my department's masters program for seven years during which time we substantially revised our course requirements, fieldwork, and mentoring system and successfully underwent both a graduate program review and re-accreditation. I was also a member of a steering committee that provided recommendations to the Dean on transitioning various departmental degrees to a single, School-wide degree. I am interested in serving on this committee to extend my experience to similar endeavors at the university level.
