UNC Service

I love Carolina and am committed to our mission to seek truth & knowledge in the service of humanity. In support of that I & two colleagues performed research on free expression & constructive dialogue at UNC, sharing the positives & areas of improvement with faculty and administration. I served on the following committees: University of Chicago Free Speech Statement, Confederate Monument, Trademark, & Faculty Awards committees.

At Kenan-Flagler my focus is global marketing & leadership. Prior to UNC, I was an executive at Lenovo & IBM with global scope and have written three books on strategy and leadership with Oxford University Press

Candidate Statement

For UNC to accomplish its mission & thrive in a challenging environment we must be data-driven, globally oriented, open to different ideas & viewpoints and be free to express ourselves.

In my service to Carolina I've focused on improving our culture in terms of free expression and constructive dialogue. To do so I & two colleagues (a cross-discipline & politically diverse team) performed research & used data to develop our findings & recommendations. I also initiated the effort for UNC’s faculty to adopt the University of Chicago Statement on Free Speech and served on that committee. In addition, my global and leadership knowledge and experience as a business professor and former technology executive would be helpful in helping UNC adapt to our changing world. I am running to bring these attributes to bear in the service of Carolina.
