UNC Service
I am an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work (SSW). My research interests are social and microeconomic aspects of HIV in low-resource settings. My service has focused on global activities, including serving on the SSW's global engagement committee and its Global Social Development Innovations Center. I also served on the faculty steering committee for the certificate in international development and on the selection committee for Carolina Asia Center FLAS at UNC Center for Global Initiatives. I have advised more than 20 graduate students from our School and other UNC units and departments.
Candidate Statement
I am running for a seat on the Faculty Grievance Committee representing Assistant Professors/Librarians. Since joining UNC faculty in 2016, I have served on several committees in the School of Social Work (SSW), including MSW admissions and committee on students. I recently chaired a faculty search committee in the SSW for a fixed-term faculty with a global engagement focus. The experiences I have gained serving on committees that require fair, impartial, and holistic review of applications and students concerns are pertinent to this position. Through these committees, I have been given opportunities to advise, facilitate, and negotiate after hearing and obtaining input from all parties involved. I believe my service experiences have prepared me for the responsibility of serving on the Faculty Grievance Committee.
