Candidate Statement

I bring broad and varied University experience to the Advisory Committee. Since joining the UNC family in 1999 I have served as a fixed-term faculty member and a tenure-track/tenured faculty member. I understand the travails of both. I have also served in administrative roles, including my current position as Director of the UNC School of Law Institute for Innovation. My admin positions have given me insight into the workings of University administration (e.g., our maddeningly inflexible H.R. system) as well as the challenges faced by University staff (e.g., low pay, difficult working conditions, and constantly being asked to do more with less). I currently serve on the Law School’s Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and believe DE&I issues are critical to the University's future.
