I was on one of the subcommittees charged with recommending changes to the General Education requirements as the college was in the early stages of developing the IDEAs in Action curriculum. It was fascinating to see how bits of our recommendations manifested themselves in the final rewrite. I also served two years on the college's Educational Policy committee, considering questions regarding absences, online classes, and the new curriculum.

Candidate Statement

I serve as Associate Chair and Professor in the Department of Music. In my time at UNC and other institutions, I've seen the challenges faced by departments regarding their degree programs, budgets, faculty diversity, curriculum revisions, and faculty support. I've become familiar with the wide range of faculty and graduate student contributions to research and teaching and related systemic issues related to equity and diversity. This committee would encounter difficult and painful questions, and I would do my best to treat them thoughtfully and carefully.
