UNC Service

My service contributions to UNC are connected by a commitment to making higher education more equitable and inclusive. For example, in my service to the University, I am active in the Strategic Initiative 2.1 (Modernizing Student Support) Working Group and am the Faculty Advisor for the UNC-CH chapter of Tri-Alpha, the National Honors Society for First Generation College Students. For the College of Arts & Sciences, I also serve on the Administrative Boards and Curriculum Committee. For my department, I have served on the Curriculum and Merit/Salary Committees, and as Liaison the Office for Undergrad Research and as a Diversity Liaison.

Candidate Statement

My deep commitment to making higher education more equitable and inclusive also motivates my program of research in feminist developmental psychology, which focuses on understanding disparities in student learning outcomes and evaluating interventions to improve the participation, engagement, and achievement of women, first generation students, and students of color in education.
In seeking a role on the Educational Policy Committee, I aim to use my research expertise, history of service, and lived experience to inform policy and practice at UNC to support the aspirations and achievement of diverse groups of students, remove barriers to student success, and cultivate an inclusive, engaged, and dynamic community on campus.
