UNC Service
I would love to be able to serve on the University Education Policy Committee as I feel my entire life has been dedicated to service through education. I am a member of the Microbiology and Immunology Education and Technology Committee, and I have served on several University Teaching Award Committees.
Candidate Statement
I am a strong proponent of investigating new pedagogies and teaching strategies that would enhance student understanding of the subjects I teach. It not only benefits my students, but allows me to learn, as well as to grow as an educator. I understand how important it is to have solid university policies that allow us to embrace these future educational tools, and make sure they benefit students. I have participated in programs with the Center for Faculty Excellence, as well as routinely attending workshops with ASMCUE (Microbiology College Undergraduate Educators). I have been awarded the Teaching Excellence Award from the UNC School of Medicine. I have also received the Johnston Teaching Award for excellence in undergraduate teaching twice.
