Candidate Statement

It is my core belief that we discover and fulfill our life's purpose when we engage with others; and, when we invest in those around us, our time and energy multiply and the result often has greater impact than any of us would achieve on our own. Service to others, building connection and community, and teamwork are core values I strive to live by every day. Putting these ideas into action as a member of the UNC-CH faculty for the past 22+ years has been a privilege and now is a catalyst for my decision to lean into service more deeply at this stage of my professional career. I am inspired to run for election to the Faculty Assembly where I think my collaborative leadership skills can be useful in supporting meaningful dialog between students, faculty, and UNC system leaders and in enhancing shared governance of our beloved institution.
