UNC Service
I am the School of Medicine Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and a Professor in the Dept. of Ob/Gyn. I have served on the Healthcare Professional Liability Action Committee, the School of Dentistry Dean’s Advisory Committee, as Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship Training, as a member and then committee chair of the UNC Institutional Review Board. Now I am the PI/director for the UNC K12 ‘Building Interdisciplinary Research in Women’s Health’ and the co-Director for the UNC KL2 ‘Mentored Junior Faculty Career Development Program’. It is my mission to serve with integrity and accountability to advocate for faculty success.
Candidate Statement
I work with the best and brightest faculty minds on UNC’s campus. I am passionate about faculty development, and my experience has exposed me to the myriad of challenging situations that faculty need to navigate. As the UNC School of Medicine (SOM) Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs I co-led the task force charged with revising the SOM Appointments, Promotions, and Tenure (APT) guidelines which required consideration of all faculty perspectives as well as anticipating potential problems and challenges. I recognize the need to meet these challenges in clear, rationale, thoughtful way, and have the experience necessary to serve on the Faculty Grievance committee to hear and advise on grievances. Serving on the UNC Faculty Grievance committee will allow me to continue to serve UNC across the university.
