I am a member of the STEM Advisory Board to Study Abroad and the Liaison for the Chemistry Department to Study Abroad. I am also a member of the Chemistry Department Education Committee and the Undergraduate Laboratories Committee. I also served as the Co-Director and US Representative for the Trans-Atlantic Science Student Exchange Program (TASSEP, 2017-2019). As a graduate student at UNC-Chapel Hill, I served on the Graduate and Professional Student Federation Senate (2010-2012), chaired the travel award committee (2012), and was elected Vice President (2010-2012) and President (2012-2013) of the Association of Chemistry Graduate Students.

Candidate Statement

As a member of faculty council, I hope to encourage teaching excellence at the highest level by building upon the momentum of current teaching initiatives that encourage the adoption of evidence-based teaching practices. I will promote policies that foster inclusive classrooms through student-centered teaching methods, and reduce barriers to adopting these methods. I will also represent fixed-term faculty and support their integral role in advancing our teaching mission.

As a teaching faculty member, I have been involved in the redesign of two large chemistry courses and I understand the challenges of implementing and creating buy-in for these adjustments from both students and tenured faculty. Lastly, I have served on a diverse range of governing bodies and believe I can leverage these experiences to contribute to the faculty council.
