Campus-Wide Water Theme to Be Discussed at Faculty Council 11/18

H2O Carolina: Water in Our World will be presented to Faculty Council for discussion this Friday. The proposal advances a two year, campus-wide interdisciplinary theme for schools and departments to consider as they plan programming for 2012-2014. Council members will discuss implications of the adoption of a campuswide theme, and will likely vote in December on a resolution to endorse this idea.

Faculty Council will also discuss the annual reports of the Faculty Athletics Committee, the Faculty Grievance Committee, and the Faculty Hearings Committee and hear updates from Chancellor Thorp, Provost Carney, and Chair of the Faculty Boxill.  The agenda and all reports are now online here.

Faculty inquired about recent changes in the athletics department, sources of revenue for athletics, recent changes in NCAA rules, conference expansion, and ways that athletics and academics can both excel at Carolina. Reznick reminded faculty that the Athletics Committee will present their annual report at Faculty Council on Friday, November 18.  You can read about the forum in “Baddour Speaks to Faculty Forum about Role of AD,” University Gazette, 15 November 2011.
