Please use the form below to register to vote as a retired faculty member. Retired faculty vote for the retired faculty representatives on the Faculty Council.

By filling out the form below, you acknowledge that:

  • you have fully retired from UNC-Chapel Hill (those in phased retirement remain on the regular voting faculty),
  • you are not currently a member of the Voting Faculty, and
  • you held voting faculty privileges upon your retirement from this university.

According to The Faculty Code of University Government, voting-eligible faculty are professors and librarians who hold tenure-line appointments or fixed-term appointments at .75 FTE or above for at least three years. If you fulfilled either of these requirements before retiring, you are eligible to vote in the retired faculty division.

If the records we receive from the Office of Human Resources do not list you as an eligible faculty retiree, then your registration may not be approved. Having previously worked at UNC-Chapel Hill or holding an adjunct appointment without having retired from the University do not entitle you to vote.

If you have questions about voting as a retired faculty member, please contact our office at 919-962-2146 or facgov@unc.edu.
