The new Faculty Retirement Planning Guide is now available on the Retirement Planning page of the Office of Human Resources website. This guide features key advice from more than 30 recently retired UNC-Chapel Hill faculty who wanted to facilitate a smoother process for still-active faculty by learning from the experiences they faced in planning for retirement. This resource addresses details for faculty in all stages of their career and is intended to help UNC-Chapel Hill faculty members plan their individualized paths to retirement covering a variety of topics, such as catch-up contributions, long-term healthcare, eligibility requirements, supplemental benefits, phased retirement, emeritus designation and maintaining UNC connections.

No matter what stage of your career you are in, you are encouraged to consult the guide as an aid in your retirement planning process.

Many thanks to the Retired Faculty Association of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which worked with the Academic Personnel Office and the Office of Human Resources to prepare the guide. Please send your suggestions for additions or corrections to rfa@unc.edu.

For more information about the UNC-Chapel Hill Faculty Retirement Planning Guide or for questions about retirement planning, please contact UNC Benefits and Leave Administration at benefits@unc.edu or 919-962-3071. It is strongly recommended that you meet individually with a Benefits Consultant at least three to four months in advance of your retirement.
