Dear Colleagues,

The Office of Faculty Governance, on behalf of the Committee on Honorary Degrees and Special Awards, is now accepting nominations for the University’s Distinguished Alumna and Alumnus Awards to be presented at the 2020 University Day celebration. The deadline for nominations is Friday, September 27, 2019.

Nominees for these awards are selected by the faculty’s elected Committee on Honorary Degrees and Special Awards and approved by the Faculty Council. These awards recognize Carolina alumni who have made outstanding contributions to humanity in any walk of life.

Nominees must be alumni of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Included are all persons who were registered for at least one full academic year as a student in residence in any college or school of the University. In general, anyone listed in the General Alumni Association’s Alumni Directory is eligible, except for current members of the UNC-Chapel Hill faculty, staff and administration. Such individuals become eligible two years after their separation from the University.

Full information about this award, including criteria, the names of past recipients and a link to the online submission form, is available on the Distinguished Alumna and Alumnus Award page on the Faculty Governance website.

I encourage you to take a moment to recognize one of our many notable and talented alums in this way.

Sincerely,

Monica M. Figueroa
