Steven Salaita, the Palestinian American scholar who was recruited to join the faculty at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and then “dehired” due to tweets critical of Israel’s bombing of Gaza that university leadership deemed “uncivil,” will speak at Hyde Hall on Thursday, February 5 and 7:30 pm. Prof Salaita’s talk will focus on academic freedom, uncivil speech and uncivil acts, and censorship. A poster with more details is here.
