At its January 17 meeting, Faculty Council passed a resolution — drafted by the Educational Policy Committee (EPC) — concerning required use of social media in classroom settings. Resolution 2014-6 advises that instructors make any required use of public social media tools clear to students on the first day of class and offer students who have privacy concerns alternative ways of fulfilling the social media assignments. At the recommendation of Faculty Council members, EPC will continue to work to refine these recommendations next year.
